October 22-November 26th, 2016, The Pastel Society of New Hampshire’s Juried Exhibition is at Discover Portsmouth.

Opening Reception, 5pm, October 22nd. Refreshments will be served, and there will be an awards ceremony with over $5,000 in cash and merchandise awarded.

This is a major juried show with works by pastel artists from New Hampshire and numerous other states. The event is free and open to the public.

The exhibit includes pastel artists Gwen Nagel of Grantham, NH, and Dianne Taylor Moore of Littleton, NH.

Two renowned pastel artists are jurying the competition. Christine Swann is the Juror of Selection and has chosen approximately 90 paintings to be included in the exhibition. Swann is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, and a member of the IAPS Masters’ Circle. She is currently the President of the Pittsburgh Pastel Artists League and a Past President of the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society. She is also a long-time member of the Pittsburgh Society of Illustrators.

Lyn Asselta is the Juror of Awards. Lyn is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America (PSA) and a Master’s Circle recipient of the International Association of Pastel Societies. She is the founder of the First Coast Pastel Society (FL), a Member of Excellence of the Southeastern Pastel Society, and is a member of the American Artists Professional League. Asselta will speak at the welcome reception on October 22th.

The Pastel Society of New Hampshire is a non-profit organization dedicated to the appreciation of soft pastels as a fine art medium. Founded in January 2006 by a group of pastel artists, the purpose of the society is to promote the arts in New Hampshire, and to foster connections among pastelists of all levels throughout New Hampshire, the New England region, and other states.
