Join us in the Gallery at Discover Portsmouth from noon-4:00pm for a hands-on exploration of historical artifacts. Junior Historians from the third grade classrooms at Dondero Elementary School will guide visitors with their knowledge of Portsmouth history.

N is for New HampshireIn the Museum Shop, New Hampshire author, humorist and storyteller Rebecca Rule will be reading from and signing her newest book, N is for New Hampshire, a children’s alphabet book filled with stories and photographs of New Hampshire, sure to please both kids of all ages and those who love New Hampshire. Signing from 1-4pm and a short reading at 2:00. The book is available now in the Museum Shop for $17.95 (10% off for members). Please reserve your copy by calling 603-436-8433.

This program is part of Portsmouth Historical Society’s commitment to children’s education; the Society created the Third Grade Portsmouth History Program in 2006 to increase understanding and enthusiasm for local history by sending our PHS educator into local classrooms for an-depth, year-round educational experience. This exposure and continuity helps children understand that local history is fun and accessible and has the added benefit of preparing students for the state of New Hampshire’s fourth grade state history program.
