About the Artist:

Ken Goldman is a self-described engineer, a photographer, a writer, a traveler, a tech geek. After working 40 years at a Navy Laboratory, he now has more time to pursue his interests, such as photography. You’ve likely seen his images in Portsmouth social media groups, as a part of the Portsmouth NH 400 celebrations, at various art exhibitions around the Seacoast area, or for various non-profits around town. His passion for photography stems from an interest in artistically sharing how he perceives the world around him.

Learn about Portsmouth’s LGBTQ+ History.

This program is put on with Seacoast NH LGBTQ+ Oral History Project

The NH Seacoast LGBT History Project was founded by Tom Kaufhold in 2015. Tom had been collecting papers, ephemera, and artifacts related to or created by the LGBTQ+ community on the Seacoast region of New Hampshire. To tell the story more fully, Holly Cashman, a professor at the University of New Hampshire, began collecting oral histories from the same community.

“Lost Neighborhoods”

November 24 – December 30

Barbara Stevens Adams, Peter Cady, Tom Glover, and Dustan Knight team up to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the founding of Portsmouth by remembering what used to be. Through their paints and brushes, these four talented artists depict the lost neighborhoods of our beloved city such as the North End, old Puddle Dock, the West End and others. Works will be on display and available for sale from November 24 through December 30 in the balcony gallery at Portsmouth Historical Society.
